Jarreau Vandal Treats Snakehips, Chance The Rapper & Tinashe’s “All My Friends” to a dope flip

Perhaps some you recall the warmer months of 2015, when the world was a blaze with the luscious lonerism of Snakehips‘ collaborative smash “All My Friends,” featuring the immutable talents of Chance The Rapper and Tinashe. Since then, the track has gone on to claim its rightful position amongst the UK’s top ten singles and has remained in plentiful rotation on this side of the pond as well.

Today, however, we’re graced with the premiere of a fresh new take on “All My Friends,” remixed by Soulection‘s own Jarreau Vandal (who recently flipped Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” with overwhelmingly pleasing results.) Vandal makes the cut his own, alchemizing a cerebral sonic suite out of grand piano chords, punctuating percussion and pulsing synthesizers. Summer may feel like a distant memory in the blustery grips of Jonas, but this should certainly provide you with some necessary and proper recall. Stream Jarreau Vandal’s glitched-out and gorgeous flip of Snakehips, Chance The Rapper and Tinashe’s colossally-dope collaboration “All My Friends” below and if you need a refresher on the frequencies Vandal’s been blasting out into the world, hit his Soundcoud for the full resumé.

Yasiin Bey announces his retirement from music and film

Yasiin Bey, who was detained last week for attempting to leave South Africa with an unrecognised passport, has announced that his retirement from the music and film industries is “effective immediately” after the release of his final album later this year.

The freestyle, which he sent to Kanye West and was posted on West’s site, sees Bey protesting about his treatment in South Africa and demanding “No more parties in SA”. He protests against his predicament, saying: “Why these police up in my face? Why they raiding my place? Why I don’t feel safe? This is not an expression of fear. This is just to make things clear. My intentions are pure in coming here. And that’s for everything I love or hold dear. Homies in the building. So is my wife and my children. I committed no crime. Why is the state wasting my time?”

Watch Kendrick Lamar Electrify ‘The Tonight Show’ With An amazing new song.

The build up to Kendrick Lamar‘s Tonight Show appearance has been highly unlike any in recent memory. Mostly, this is due to the fact that the man has an incomparable resumé when it comes to late-night TV, starting, of course, with Stephen Colbert’s legendary send-off from Comedy Central, then welcoming him back with equal, if not greater, gusto. Then came the Saturday Night Live performance, but that’s a wholeother thing.

MAJID JORDAN – ‘KING CITY’

OVO Sound has a lot in store for 2016 including new projects from Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR. But Majid Jordan is up first. The Canadian duo, comprised of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman, is gearing up to release its self-titled debut on Feb. 5. After dropping the Drake-assisted “My Love” and “Something About You” last year, they set the sexy mood on their latest track, the vibey “King City.”

On a side note big up the homie Jordan Green for putting me on to these homies.

If you pre-order the album on iTunes, you will receive the three tracks as an instant download.
